Sustainability

Sustainability

We do not use the word lightly.

Sustainability has become a marketing term. Brands use it to mean almost anything. We would rather be specific about what we do, honest about what we do not, and let you make up your own mind.

Fabric first

We use washed linen as our primary fabric. This is a deliberate choice.

Linen is made from flax, one of the most resource-efficient natural fibres available. Flax grows quickly, requires significantly less water than cotton — up to five times less — uses fewer pesticides, and the whole plant is used with minimal waste. The long fibres create a strong, durable fabric that does not pill or break down the way synthetic alternatives do.

Washed linen specifically improves with age. It softens with every wash, holds its shape, and does not degrade the way fast fashion fabric does after ten washes. A Leora piece bought today should still be in your wardrobe in five years. That is part of the design.

Less, on purpose

We do not do large seasonal drops. We do not make hundreds of styles. The collection is deliberately small — five worlds, each with a limited number of pieces — because we think making less is the more honest approach to fashion.

Less overstock. Less waste. Less noise. Pieces are added deliberately and stay in the collection for as long as they earn their place.

Packaging

Orders are packed in recycled and recyclable materials. No plastic garment bags. No excess tissue paper. No branded filler. Just the piece, protected, and a note if there is something worth saying.

We are always looking for ways to reduce packaging further. If you have a suggestion, write to us.

Production

We work with a small number of manufacturers who we know and visit. We do not work with factories we have not vetted. Pieces are made in small runs to avoid overproduction.

We do not publish our factory names publicly at this stage — not because we have something to hide, but because we are a very small brand and these are working relationships we want to protect. If you have specific questions about production, write to us at info@leora.com and we will answer honestly.

What we are not

We are not a certified B-Corp. We are not carbon neutral. We have not offset our emissions. We are a small brand doing the best we can within real constraints — budget, access, scale — and we think it is important to say that clearly rather than claim more than we are.

We are working on it. We will keep working on it. And we will always tell you where we actually are rather than where we wish we were.
